BIBLE STUDY

The study of God’s word is paramount to Christian growth and spiritual development in the individual walk with God. We live each day to honor God in our lives. Without a close connection with God, Who grants us power to live and walk in faith as Christ did while He was here on earth, we cannot please God. For he that comes to God MUST first believe, and that’s in the expression of faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ as expressed in Hebrews 11:6 (KJV).

WHY STUDY THE BIBLE?
The Bible provides the keys to open the treasures to a meaningful and fulfilled life in Christ. It helps us understand who God is, who we are, why we are here in this world, what is going on all around us, and how we can live a fulfilled life in this hostile world. The Bible answers all of the questions that baffle us from time to time.
Jesus said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39 (KJV).

The Bible tells us that it is inspired, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:15-17 (KJV). Studying the Bible makes us wise, even towards eternal life, it teaches us, corrects us, and instructs us to live a decent Christian life, equipping us to glorify God in all that we do.

HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE?
Studying the Bible involves taking time to carefully and prayerfully read the Bible, and paying attention to the messages it is trying to convey. Because the Bible is a book of God’s revelation of Himself and the freedom He offers us through the sacrificial death of His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, it advisable to seek His help through prayer to understand it when we study it. The Bible interprets itself when we study in the format it recommends, “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little…” Isaiah 28:9-10 (KJV).

Daily, in studying the Bible, we ought to follow the example of our Christian Brethren in Thessalonica, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11 (KJV).
